Traveling in Los Angeles with a Rental Car

Arriving at the Los Angeles International Airport and exiting out onto the Highway, you will realize the magnitude of the city, which is the second most populated city, after New York, and one of the largest in the world.

The climate of Los Angeles is generally temperate, dry and sunny throughout the year, and the beaches are a must-see. For those visiting with a car rental, Highway 1 is the road that leads to the most popular beaches: Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice, Marina del Rey, Manhattan, Hermosa Redondo, Palos Green, and further down, South Long Beach.

Another sight you cannot miss during your visit to Los Angeles is the classic tour of Hollywood Boulevard, where you can walk along the 2,500 stars and handprints of famous personalities imprinted in the sidewalk. At 6925 Hollywood Bvrd next to The Chinese Mann Theatre, you will see the hands, feet and signatures of the most popular icons of all time.

The Hollywood sign from 1923, is another symbol of the city that is worth knowing. Each letter measures 15 by 9 meters, the entirety of the sign reaches 80 meters, and can be seen 50 miles away. To get there, you must go uphill by Beachwood Dr. Beverly Hills is a residential area West of Hollywood. There, you will find several blocks of incredible celebrity mansions. There is also Rodeo Drive, a well-known street for shopping, with exclusive shops.

Another visit that you cannot miss on your trip to Los Angeles is Universal Studios, a park inspired by the films that the studio has produced. There, you can enjoy live scenes from films like Pirates of the Caribbean, Fast & Furious, Shark, The War of the Worlds, Psycho, Jurassic Park, etc. There are also attractions like King Kong 3 D, Transformers 3D rollercoaster Waterworld and The Simpsons Ride.

In Los Angeles, Anaheim to be more precise, you will find Disneyland. The park, open since 1955, is divided into eight thematic areas or "lands": Main Street USA, Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, New Orleans Square, Critter Country and Mickey's Toontown. Those who have visited Disney Parks in Orlando, Florida, know that Disneyland is much smaller than Magic Kingdom; but the Los Angeles park has a particular attraction, being the imagined project and design of Walt Disney himself.

Another Park that is located in Anaheim is Knotts Berry Farm, which covers 55 hectares and has five theme areas (Boardwalk, Fiesta Village, Camp Snoopy, Ghost Town and Calico Square) and attractions such as rollercoasters, live entertainment and music shows. Opened in 1940, this park is the oldest in the United States.

Three things are important to keep in mind when visiting Los Angeles. The first is that it is essential to rent a car to get around in the city, since there are big distances between places. The second is that there are many motorways, and maneuvering your way through them when you do not know the city can get tricky. For this reason, it is highly recommended to hire a rental car thathas a GPS in your language. Third, it is important that the rental car has unlimited daily miles. You will avoid having to pay additional costs when returning the car to the car rental company.
