Renting a car in Dallas is a great option to best take advantage of your time and see the most you can according to your own interests. And there’s no better place to start than in the Arts District, a neighborhood located northeast of the city center, where you’ll find the Dallas Museum of Art which exhibits more than 24,000 pieces from the Ancient Mediterranean, the Americas, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Pacific Islands. Another interesting museum to visit is the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. Inside it’s 9 square miles distributed between 5 floors and 11 exhibition rooms there are interactive exhibits utilizing the latest technology about the human body, nature, and the universe. The principal attraction of the museum is a huge dinosaur exhibit.

Very nearby in the historic West End District, more precisely in Dealey Plaza, is the Sixth Floor Museum. On November 22, 1963, Lee Harvey Oswald fired the gun that killed John F. Kennedy, the president of the United States, from one of the windows of this building, which is now a museum. Today that floor has a permanent exhibit of photographs, documentaries, objects, and evidence related to this high-profile assassination.

The West End is also home to a touristic and cultural complex, popular because of it’s businesses, restaurants, and nightclubs. Here you’ll also find the West End Market, an ex-factory that now holds clothing and jewelry shops.

Nature lovers are obliged to drive their rental cars along Highway 35 East to the Dallas Arboretum, where the Zoo is located. The Zoo was founded in 1888 and is the biggest in Texas, with a wide variety animals distributed in 2 areas, ZooNorth and The Wilds of Africa. There’s also an aquarium home to 6,000 aquatic species, including some in danger of extinction.
