What do I need to rent a car?

Driver's license — physical and valid, with at least 12 months since issue. Digital versions are not accepted. If it is not in the Latin alphabet, you will also need an International Driving Permit.


Physical credit card in the driver's name, with the same name embossed on the card (must be valid for at least 12 months and have sufficient available credit). Debit cards, virtual cards, and cards with digital security codes are not accepted.


Valid identification document for local rentals. For international rentals, a passport is required.


International Driving Permit (IDP) for rentals in Asia, Europe and Africa, as well as in the U.S. states of Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. This applies to countries whose driver's license uses a non-Latin alphabet.

Security deposit: The rental company will place a hold or charge a security deposit on your credit card. This deposit will be refunded at the end of the rental, provided no additional services were added. The amount varies by destination. How Old Do I Need to Be to Rent a Car?

The minimum rental age is 20 years old in most destinations.


Drivers under 25 may be subject to restrictions and additional charges depending on the destination and rental company. In the U.S., the fee is approximately USD 25 per day, although some companies offer promotions that reduce this amount.


25 years or older do not have additional fees for age.

Do I Need an International Driving Permit (IDP)?

It depends on your destination:


United States: Not required, except in the states of Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Europe: Required if your driver's license is not written in English or in the language of the country where you are renting.

Asia and Africa: Required in all destinations.

What requirements must my credit card have?

The credit card is required to pick up the car at the counter. It must meet these conditions:


Physical — virtual cards or cards with digital security code are not accepted.

In the name of the driver listed on the reservation, with the name printed in relief on the card.

Minimum validity of 12 months from the rental date.

Sufficient available credit to cover the rental charges and the security deposit required by the rental company.

Debit cards are not accepted as a guarantee at pickup, although they may be used to prepay for your reservation on our website.

Can I Rent a car if I am under 25 years old?

Yes, as long as you are at least 20 years old. However, drivers under 25 may be subject to:

How can I pay for my car rental reservation?

You have 2 options:


Pay now (prepaid) — Pay on our site with a credit or debit card at the time of booking. It is the most economical option and speeds up the process when picking up the car.


Pay at the counter — With your credit card when picking up the car with the rental company.

Can I Pay My Rental in the Local Currency of My Country?

Can I Pay My Rental with a Debit Card?

You can use a debit card to prepay your reservation on our website, but it is not accepted at the counter as a guarantee when picking up the car.


To pick up the vehicle, the rental company will always require a physical and valid credit card in the name of the driver, with sufficient available credit to cover the security deposit.

What is the Security Deposit and When is It Returned?

When picking up the car, the rental company holds an amount on your credit card as a guarantee. This deposit covers possible additional charges such as fines, fuel, damages, or late return.It's a temporary hold that blocks a portion of your card's available credit.


It's released once the car is returned without pending charges. The timeframe varies depending on the company and the issuing bank of your card, but generally takes between 7 and 30 business days.

The amount varies depending on the destination, company, and vehicle category.

What Happens If My Payment Was Rejected or Failed?

It can occur for several reasons — insufficient balance, incorrect data, or a bank restriction. The reservation is not confirmed until the payment is successful, so we recommend trying again as soon as possible to secure availability and the rate.

Changes & cancellations


Can I cancel my reservation?

Yes. Reach out to us via chat or WhatsApp, and we will take care of it. You can cancel free of charge as long as you do so more than 48 hours before the pickup time. For example, if your pickup is on April 10 at 3:00 p.m., you must cancel by April 8 at 3:00 p.m. Cancellations made after this time may result in a penalty charge from the rental company. Please note that processing fees may apply if you request a refund to your card.

Can I modify my reservation?

Yes. Contact us via chat or WhatsApp to arrange it. There is no penalty if you do so more than 48 hours before the car pick-up time.


Please note that any change in dates, category, or pick-up location is subject to availability and may result in a price difference compared to your original reservation.

Will I get my money back if I cancel?

It depends on how you'd like to receive your refund:


Credit for a future reservation — at no additional cost.

Refund to your card — a 20% fee applies for transaction processing costs.


In both cases, the cancellation must be made with more than 48 hours of advance notice before the car pickup time. Reservations with PROMO rate do not qualify for refunds under any circumstances.

What is a "no-show"?

It's when a customer doesn't show up to pick up the vehicle at the confirmed date and time.

Can I add a baby seat to my rental?

Yes. Baby seats are available at the counter of most rental companies, and it's not necessary to book them in advance.

Request it directly from the agent when picking up the car. The cost varies depending on the company and destination.

Can someone else drive my rental car?

Yes, but they must be registered as an additional driver in the rental contract. Some rates already include this without extra cost — you can verify this in our search engine at the time of booking.

What is Rental Cover?

We work with RentalCover, a company that offers protection solutions for our customers. RentalCover has an excellent reputation in the industry and is among the most highly rated companies in its category on review sites like Trustpilot. Additionally, it has received multiple awards and recognition in different markets for the quality of its services.

When can I contract Rental Cover?

You can add it at two points:


During booking — when selecting your rate, before paying.

After confirming the reservation — as long as the rate you booked allows it.

What do I do if I don't find any RentalCover email?

Check your spam, junk, or promotions folders.

If you have multiple email addresses, make sure to check all of them.


If there was an error when entering your email address, we will contact RentalCover to ensure you can receive your purchase confirmation. Resolving this issue may take a couple of days.

How does RentalCover work?

In the event of an accident or damage during the rental, the customer must pay the corresponding costs directly to the rental company, including the deductible. Afterward, they can request a refund from RentalCover, provided the incident is covered by the purchased policy.


For the claim to be evaluated, it is necessary to submit all receipts and payment vouchers. Once the claim is approved, RentalCover will send a confirmation via email and process the refund within 3 to 5 business days after receiving the customer's banking information.

How long can I cancel the RentalCover protection?

Customers can request the cancellation of this service up to 2 hours after the scheduled pickup time of the vehicle. Once this period has elapsed, the service will not be refundable and there will be no room for reimbursement of the paid amount.

Does RentalCover replace the rental company's protection?

No. RentalCover is an independent protection and does not replace the coverages offered by the rental company. For this reason, at the time of picking up the vehicle, the company may offer or request the enrollment in their own protections, according to their internal policies.


While the company's protections may reduce the deductible or required deposit, RentalCover operates through reimbursement. This means that if charges are generated covered by the policy (including the deductible), the customer will have to pay them initially to the rental company and subsequently can request a refund from RentalCover, subject to the terms and conditions of the contracted coverage.

Is it mandatory to purchase the rental company's protection?

No, generally it is not mandatory to purchase the rental company's protection, as long as you meet their requirements. However, if you decide not to acquire them, you may have to leave a higher security deposit and initially assume any charges for damages or incidents.

What should I do if the rental company tells me I have to purchase additional insurance to take the car?

Rental companies often offer additional coverage for specific items, such as tires, glass, keys, roadside assistance, and other items not always included in basic coverage. If you have RentalCover protection, expenses covered by your policy can be claimed afterward through the refund process, subject to its terms and conditions. The decision to purchase or not these additional coverages is up to the customer.

What happens if I return my car after the return time indicated in my reservation?

The return time is the one specified in your reservation. Returning the car after the scheduled return time may result in additional charges from the rental company, even if the delay is just a few minutes.

Some companies offer a grace period of up to 20 minutes, but not all of them do.

To help avoid unexpected charges, we recommend planning to arrive at the rental location a few minutes before your scheduled return time, so you can complete the return process on time.

How can I extend my reservation if I want to keep the car longer than originally booked?

Contact us via chat, WhatsApp or email and we will review the best option for you. In some cases, it is better to modify the current reservation, but in others it may be more economical to return the car and make a new reservation.


We recommend contacting us before agreeing to extend the rental directly with the company at the counter, as rates can be significantly higher.

Can I take the car to another country?

In some destinations it is possible, but it requires prior authorization from the rental company. Doing so without permission can void your insurance and leave you without coverage in case of any incident.

Does the price I see include taxes?

Can I cancel my hotel booking?

Yes. The cancellation policy depends on the property you booked and is clearly indicated before confirming the booking.


With free cancellation — you can cancel without cost within the indicated period.
